FAQs

1. Do you offer overnight support?

Yes I do, I know that this can be a really valuable service in those early days and weeks. I can bring baby to you to be fed and then re settle/change baby so that you can sleep, keep you company during night feeds, bring you food, drink or just be with you. If you are expressing or bottle feeding then I can take care of baby overnight completely. However you would like to be supported overnight.

Please view my prices and packages page to find out more or contact me to have a chat.

2. Can I have a postnatal doula as and when I need one or do I need to pre book visits?

You can book me on a week by week basis depending on my availability but I do prefer to have a package of 20 hours booked in advance.

3. What are your skills and qualifications?.

  • Doula UK member (recognised)

  • NCT Birth Doula

  • Younique Postnatal Doula Preparation course

  • Paediatric First Aid Training

  • Postnatal Planning Training

  • Younique Intuitive Breast and Body feeding course (ongoing)

  • Lullaby Trust SIDS and safer sleep for babies

  • DBS checked and fully insured with Morten Michel

4. Why were you drawn to being a postnatal doula?

I had 3 quite different postpartum experiences and each could have benefited from extra, outside support. I found it difficult to ask family or friends for help. I feel passionate about turning our backs on bounceback, that we allow our bodies to heal and to allow you all to bond as a family. I also offer breastfeeding support which can be extremely beneficial in those early days and something I didn’t have and noticed was really lacking in my area.

5. How much do you charge?

Please view my Prices & Packages page.

6. Are you available for emergency telephone support?

I am available via phone and email for support when I am not with you in person for the time that I am working with you.

7. How many clients do you have at once?

I currently only work with 2 clients that are due their babies around the same time at any one time.

8. Will having a postnatal doula affect the closeness I have with my baby?

No. By having my support within the comfort of your own home your bond will be strengthened and your closeness will not be affected, I am there to walk alongside you as you care for your baby.

9. What services do you provide, cook/clean/laundry/run errands etc?

Yes, that is the beauty of having a postnatal doula. You can ask of me the things that you might feel embarrassed of asking friends and family. I can fold and put away laundry, put a wash on, collect a small bit of shopping, prepare light snacks or meals, run the hoover round. There are lots of ways that I can support you.

10. Do you take baby out on walks so I can rest?

Yes, I can take the baby out for a walk or I can pop the baby in a sling for a sleep whilst I prepare your evening meal or do a few jobs.

11. Pre postpartum prep - do you advise on what might I need to be prepared for? Practically?

Yes, as part of my 20 hour package I offer a free postnatal planning session. This will be an opportunity for you and your partner to spend some time focussing on planning for a combination of practical, physical and emotional support.
